Re: TraceColorsDiminishing
OK. GFlare in the GIMP is making wonderful corrections. It appears InkScape is making trace decisions based on geometry and colors. I'm getting marvelous results by working on smaller sections at a time and using layers. I'd say some node work and piecing the picture back together will make a great ...

Re: TraceColorsDiminishing
I'm finding ways to make InkScape trace photo's. I'm still prepping this picture for trace using the GIMP. First, I tried colors independently. Now, I'm trying each object in the picture separately. I will give full explanations and results as soon as I've completed prepping. OK. Thank you very much...

TraceColorsDiminishing
Hello. I've found tracing loses some flair as far as colors. (see attached) I tried more saturation from the ext>color drop down but get the wrong colors to saturate. Anybody know a better color preserving &/or enhancing technique? I am about to try prepping the original with more flair and then...

Re: GhostScriptInstallationWin7(64bit)
Yes! Thank you very much! The 64 version is up and running! I seen it before and thought that it was at default as being the latest version supported. I uninstalled and reinstalled gswin64, then gsview, and finally Scribus, corrected to gswin64c, and bam! Speaking of GSView, I came across an EPS fil...

Re: GhostScriptInstallation
And just to prove how little I know, after GhostScript is installed, I open the Ghostscript 9.01 shortcut, and I get a window with a blinking cursor next to GS>. I don't think I am even supposed to open GhostScript because when I installed it on my Macmini, Scribus found it. (and I didn't have to op...

GhostScriptInstallationWin7(64bit)
OK. I am extremely new to installing programs on IBM clones. I downloaded the latest GhostScript app (gs901w64.exe) for my new Toshiba laptop (Win7 64bit). I opened the file and it went through the set up process. Then, I opened Scribus (1.3.3.14) and it stated GhostScript was missing. Is Scribus lo...

Re: InkScape Laptop!
A 256 Scan trace of a 394KB 500x325 PNG file on the Toshiba took 17% RAM usage up to 36%. The CPU made an initial spike to 58% and danced around the 50's and stopped in under 2 minutes! and produced a 44 MB SVG file. Having done the trace a few times to log performace, InkScape had to close itself a...

Re: InkScape Laptop!
OK. I just made another outstanding reply that disappeared after trying to attach a picture! It was full of information. OK. So, copy to Word before attaching a picture! I'm not going to list all the scientists, personal assumptions, and references all over again. I will simply state, in a nutshell,...

Re: Panic Button
The trace to bitmap window has OK & Stop buttons. When I press Stop, it doesn't. Did I fail to left click my track ball hard enough or...? Oh, never mind. I just retried to verify prior to posting and found it working with .48.1! Thank you very much! I think the Windows equivalent would be to ri...

Re: InkScape Laptop!
Its funny, the 1GB Macmini would handle more pixel volume where the 766 MB Acer would fail. (but the Acer was 3 times faster on booting InkScape) The new Toshiba is 2 times faster than than the Acer. But, I wonder what pixel volume it would handle by comparison. I imported a 3458 X 2608 1956 EIA Res...

OK. I did a test on the Mac, the other Mac, the Acer, and my new Toshiba. Re: InkScape Laptop!
Traditionally, I've used Mac. But, because it costs so much for a Mac laptop, I've decided to go with Windows. (lots more to choose from too). Price is my biggest factor. What do you mean by CPU power? processor and memory? You mean like single or dual core or even i7? (as far as CPU power and proce...

Re: InkScape Laptop!
Thank you very much! I also am running modo. But, it's so advanced, I haven't been exercising it much. (As I need a lot of time for thinking. LOL) I have flipflopped my mind on so many models in the last 24 hours, I don't know what I am going to come up with. I will post what I end up choosing. OK. ...

InkScape Laptop!
Hello! I am in the market for a new laptop to run InkScape. I've done some small research and I am leaning towards a Panasonic tough book, a Samsung XPS16, and others. Can anyone make any suggestions? I was trying to stay within the 4 to 5 to 600 dollar range. Cheers! Jaso I am looking on ebay, Best...

Re: Panic Button
I found a panic button! Just go to the menubar at the top of the screen where it says, "X11". Left-click it once, go down til you have quit highlighted and left-click again. It stops everything immediately! Then, if I want to go right back to my last save, I just go to my doc and tell InkS...

My MacMini has been screaming all morning. Thank you for the info. InkScape finally had an internal error and is closing down now.

Panic Button
Is there a panic button I can use to stop the last executed command? Sometimes I will see InkScape taking longer than necessary (especially with all the new power under the hood) and I want to try something else, and I don't want to wait for it to finish that which I will undo anyways. C64 used to a...

Re: OutLiningCutsEdges@BoundingBox.AddMargin?
Wow! That was fast! Yes, I checked in tool preferences. It was at default, visual. I tried geometric for good measure, and got the same result. The visual even says it is for handling filters. The image was traced to bitmap with remove background which shifted the eight arrows up close and tight to ...

OutLiningCutsEdges@BoundingBox.AddMargin?
Hello. Jaso here.(Mac OSX 10.5.8/X11 2.6.1/InkScape48.1) I have an image (1800# as an SVG file in InkScape) that I want to make an outline of. (using the outline filter) But, when I do the outline, the top and bottom edges of the image are clipped off by the bounding box defining the selection. Is t...

I was checking my version #'s to post the success a development version had and low and behold, 48.1! Not only did this address the DPI, but also the green bug!
Thank you very much!
