Fonts disappearing on Inkscape 0.91 and Ubuntu 14.04

Hi, I'm almost "extremely confident" about this being a software issue, so here it goes :) I've used this font this morning: http://openfontlibrary.org/en/font/ruji-s-handwriting-font-v-2-0 I had no trouble at all using it, but when I opened my drawing again, the red exclamation mark appea...

I'm following your tuts, they're great!
I am using them in my classes, I teach computering to 16 year old boys and I want them to do a very simple animation... your work helps me (and them) a lot!
Keep on!

Re: Ideas for very simple drawings.

Sorry for answering so late!
I like your idea about the image frames a lot! I will try also to draw some easy robot or spaceship, but i don't see the slingshot and the stained glass very well... :)
Thanks!

Ideas for very simple drawings.

Hi! I'm preparing to give some Inkscape lessons to my students (12-14 years old). I want to give them some very schematic and simple examples of drawings made using only 3 or 4 simple shapes and applying to them one or two of the different boolean operations. Something like this http://imgh.us/chave...

Re: Teachers using Inkscape

I also think it would be a very good activity to draw maps using Inkscape. I don't teach geography and I can't go deeper in that aspect, but it would be really interesting to work on that. I mostly focus my work with Inkscape in easy artistic drawing, and a bit of logo and poster design. Inkscape wo...

Re: Teachers using Inkscape

Thank you Brynn! As you say, I teach the way I learn. First, I did my drawings using boolean operations combined with :tool_rectangle: :tool_ellipse: :tool_star: , but then I realized how important path transformations are, and I think that you are right. Explaining the kids differences between path...

Re: Teachers using Inkscape

Hi Brynn, yes, I knew about Kidscape thanks to this forum, but I'm trying to use straight Inkscape, since I think a boy or a girl of 13 is capable of understanding it and achieving some good results. I started this post to get some ideas about how a boy of that age should learn to draw with Inkscape...

Teachers using Inkscape

Hi! I'm a teacher (children between 13 and 16) and I try to teach them vector drawing basics using Inkscape. It would be great if there is anyone here that is doing the same and we could share some thoughts, techniques, or even try to make some project together. I work in a school in Galiza, a count...

Problems with texts in Jessyink

I write this as a question and as some help if someone has found the same issue as me, I've been trying to do a presentation using Jessyink (great, great tool, by the way!!) and texts didn't appear when I opened my presentation in the browser (Chrome). After some struggle, I found out that the texts...

Verified, white fill object is on top and in the same position. I don´t understand what happens...
Don't worry anymore, I'll manage myself with the "bad" solution.
Thanks a lot.

Re: how can i make a text ( font ) thinner?

Thanks for the answer, but it isn´t working on my computer. I followed exctly the steps you gave me, but when I come to Object-> Mask ->set, it creates an object but it`s invisible to me. I tried to change it's fill and stroke colour but it doesn't work, maybe it has to deal with my version or prefe...

how can i make a text ( font ) thinner?

Hi! I`ve been searching in the forum and tutorials but I didn´t find how to do what I want to do properly. I´m working with a font ( caviar dreams ) and I want to make it lighter, making it's stroke thinner without changing the font size too much. I've tried making inset but it gives me a poor resul...
