Re: layouts with multiple views and different layers visible

Hello, Maybe i misunderstand your question, but if the format for your layout is another svg file, or a png file, maybe the best solution is learn to use the commandline tool: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/CommandLine.html Which, I have to say it, allthought the documentation is good...

Re: GIMP like UI?

should a campaign or a bounty on bountysource help?
but I think it has more to do with putting core developers of both apps together (and the ones of Scribus, too :P )

layouts with multiple views and different layers visible?

Hi all, I can't find an exact answer or workaround, so I started a new thread. Here's what I would like to achieve: starting from a single inkscape SVG, that has tons of layers (it's a map with many analysis), create a layout with two or more instances of the svg with different layers visible (i.e. ...

GIMP like UI?

Hi all, still thinking about an open source creative suite... It would be wonderful to have GIMP and Inkscape work together, and have the same look and feel. While we can already theme, change icons and keyboard shortcuts, I wish the interface can be similar between the two programs. Personally I re...

Re: Document Tabs

I don't know which would be easier on the system: running 2, 3 or more copies of Inkscape in order to work cross-document, or having each document open within one instance of Inkscape. I checked with System Monitor and it looks like only one instance of Inkscape is running across multiple documents...

Re: Document Tabs

I'm tinking about this just today... I found it's discussed on launchpad . I really would like to se this feature, and even tabbed dialogs a la GIMP (especially in single window mode), so the two programs will be more similar (dreaming of an open creative suite!) as per the single instance issue, ma...

Re: remember opened panels?

Have you tried "Remember...."? Ups, I didn't try to search the bugs... and it looks it's already solved here . too bad mac binaries are not so up to date and homebrew has troubles with dependencies... since there are shortcuts for panels and they would appear at the same place each and ev...

remember opened panels?

Hi all, still having troubles making inkscape work for me instead the other way round :P Everytime I fire up inkscape (even when opening svg files) on my mac I have to open and rearrange all the panels (I liked tabbed panels to save space on my 13" macbook pro). Is there a way to record these s...

Re: batch exporting selections to separate svg files

Hi Lazur, You said you solved by creating about 80 separate svg-s out of the one containing 264 separate groups. I extracted only the 24x24px (and not all of them, because I don't need them at the moment). maybe the smaller ones can be useful, but not until an automated way will show up (I'm a lazy ...

Re: batch exporting selections to separate svg files

sorry, what I wanted to say is that the author of the svg uses the png export, but I wanted to save as SVG.
for now I solved by manually ctrl+c,crtl+n,crtl+v,ctrl+w like 80 times :)
I wonder if there's an automated way to do that, if I'll ever have to use it on a huge svg...

Re: batch exporting selections to separate svg files

sorry to bring back this post, but I have the same issue. I'm trying to separate url=https://github.com/mapbox/maki]mapink maki icon set[/url] (a single svg file) into multiple svgs to use with qgis. The author uses inkscape for a batch PNG export, and every object has its id. is there a way to do t...

Imported SVGs not on position - bug or intended behavior?

Hi all, I'm using QGIS+Inkscape combo to do some cartographic illustration for my thesis. I have a base SVG (exported from QGIS and modified in Inkscape) in which I want to add other elements from another QGIS-ecxported SVG: same page size, same map position. if I import the new SVG, the group is al...

Re: dxf import from layout/paper space - can it be possible?

Hi Inkspots, thanks for you reply and sorry for this late reply (I have a strange relationship with forum notifications :) ) I think the reason you didn't understand my question is that you don't use cad software ;) let's try to explain more: In cad (autocad over all) you have a model space where yo...

yep, I wondered if there's a shortcut for that button. And I found it: shift+u.

dxf import from layout/paper space - can it be possible?

Hi there, I'm trying to set up an architectural illustration workflow, that involves CAD, Inkscape and GIMP. Now the CAD is Archichad because i got the educational version for free, but maybe I'll move to blender, freecad and/or draftsight for a more open/free workflow. Anyway, I did a fast layout u...

Re: Import SVG into GIMP

I noticed that import in GIMP as paths worked well when I converted all path segments to curves [1] in Inkscape before importing the SVG into GIMP. I'm resuming this post just to say thankyou! This helps me a lot. I tried with Inkscape 0.48.2, Gimp 2.8.2, Mac OS X 10.6.8. Is there a keyboard shortc...

Re: how to extract (from a path) only the visible part

Thanks for the answers. For my first image I managed to clean it up, once I figured out how difference works exactly: I thought it was a matter of the selection order, but now I know it's about Z-order. This plus combine helps to speed up the process: select the frontmost path, ctrl+d, shift+select ...

Re: how to extract (from a path) only the visible part

Hi there, I think my question has much in common with this discussion. I would rephrase the question like this: how can I run the difference keeping the operator path? I Imported a Cad drawing which had solid hatches, but I want to superimpose that drawing over a gimp postproduction, so I had to get...
