Re: product brochure made in Inkscape

You can mask bitmap in InkScape. http://en.flossmanuals.net/Inkscape/ClipAndMask True, but as EarlyBlake already mentioned: Wait a minute you cut the image out. Your supposed to spend weeks making the box in inkscape -- adjusting the blurs and fretting over inkscape only have linear and elliptical ...

Re: product brochure made in Inkscape

Recently finished another new product brochure, which can be found here . This one is again made in Inkscape, 4 separate documents, glued together with PDF Split and Merge. Again, used PhotoShop to extract the photographed items from their backgrounds. Additionally, many of the drawings in the Measu...

Re: shortcuts anyone ??

would you happen to use Ctrl-C to copy from one instance of Inkscape to another instance? That does not work in 0.46, you'll be needing 0.47 Devel.

Re: trim a line

Hmm, good tip. I should invest some more time in the path operation, it might save me quite some work. What I would have done was : ⋅  duplicating the line ( ctrl D ) and then convert the duplicate in a guide ( shift G ). ⋅  duplicating the circle ( ctrl D ) and then convert the ...

Re: Epicyclic gear train

It looks great, at fist view. But, from a technical point of view, I don't think it would turn too smooth.... The teeth on the planet wheels and the outer ring are so closely matched, I think it would give a lot of friction. There's not enough room for the teeth from one side to slide between the te...

I'm not familiar with that comic, nor the character, but it looks pretty nice to me.

One thing though: the larger image seems to have a different aspect ratio than the smaller one: Dude lost some weight ;)

Re: PDF Export problem

I removed Foxit Reader quite soon after having it installed, because it has many problems in displaying documents correctly. For me it's not yet a usable alternative for Acrobat Reader. - printed copy has slight grey background under bitmap 3-way views; not present in png neither in pdf When I look ...

Re: PDF Export problem

I'm using the same Inkscape version, built on June 19, 2009. When I draw 3 circles, position them to overlap each other, all fill them and give them each a different color and set opacity to 50% for each and then save as PDF, I get a pdf that shows exactly what I saw in Inkscape, including the opaci...

Re: Minimum but safe A4 margins

Hard to say, it's different for each printer.

My good old HP deskjet 520 has larger margins, about 7 mm for left, top and right. For bottom it's even larger, 17 mm. Specifically that large bottom margin is rather annyoing from time to time.

I can't speak for BobSongs, but the way I read his post, all I see is that he confirms what you already stated: The documentation of Inkscape is not really helpful to the new user. I do not have the impression that BobSongs is commenting on your video. As far as I read it, he's just pointing out to ...

Re: How to paginate in Scribus?

Google also coughed up this page: http://wiki.scribus.net/index.php/Pagination about pagination in Scribus. It mentions that on some keyboards, pressing Ctrl-# will not give the expected result. It also gives a work around to re-assign a different key combination. Could that be your issue?

Re: Linking Problem

When you use an "external" image in an inkscape drawing, the image itself is not automatically embedded in the drawing, Inkscape only uses a link to the file on disk.
When you open the drawing on another computer, you need to have a copy of the image file as well.

Crash in Inkscape when manipulating layers

Hi all, I have several multi-layer drawings made in Inkscape and one of them has many more items (in various layers) than the other drawings. Many of these items need to be copied to the other drawings as well. While trying to copy the items from one drawing to another, Inkscape keeps crashing. It s...

Re: Rotating center positioning

You can actually rotate guides with the mouse, so you don't need to deal with the dialog at all if you don't need an exact angle measure. When you pull out a guide, you'll see a small circle on it where the mouse was contacting it. That's the guide's rotation point. If you hold Shift and click on t...

Thank you, Slow Dog, that indeed seems to be causing it. It never crossed my mind to look in that direction.

When I return to my "old" preferences file, join is indeed set to "Round join".

Thank you!

problem with path outset

Hi all, I have a problem in Inkscape with path outset. I draw a rectangle with the :tool_rectangle: tool, convert it a path and then press Ctrl ) a number of times until my rectangle is big enough. However, my rectangle does not stay rectangular, it gets sort of rounded corners and curved lines:...

Now for that angled guide thing ... I wish there was an Apply button to apply the angle to the guide without closing the dialog box. I was testing out the angeled guides on a small project yesterday and found that I had to keep opening and closing the dialog to adjust the angle when I was trying to...
