Thanks Lazur. BTW, the graphics in all the answers show broken, here. The graphics in the question are OK.

Re: Deformed pattern

Draw a plane, subdivide it many times, delete every second face, then move some of the edges in edit mode -use the lasso tool (Ctrl+left mouse button hold while moving the cursor around), or the loop select (Alt+right mouse button Click) and maybe switch the view to outlines only (Z), then select a...

Re: Deformed pattern

For a vector solution: That's the one I want :) model each square of one of the colours of the pattern as a face in blender, export as obj, then add it to inkscape\share\extensions\poly3Dobjects folder and render it with the 3D polyhedrons extension, and colour each path with the right colour. Can ...

Deformed pattern

Any ideas on how to efficiently draw this surface pattern? http://d287ku8w5owj51.cloudfront.net/images/products/large/pdt_19726.png.ashx?width=450&height=350 I recognise Inkscape doesn't have free-form mesh deformation, but perhaps there's something near that I have missed. I considered Envelope...

A bug, I guess. But a strange one, since other hotkeys work fine.

Correct. Now I try the numpad key, it works.

Do you too find the regular number key fails?

If you press it once, it changes the display mode to no filters used, thus if you don't use any of them, you won't see a change.
Pressing it again, will leed to outline mode.

Thanks, but not here. It has no effect.

Does CTRL+5 work for anyone? It is supposed to perform View > Display mode > Toggle, but here does nothing.

Vince, apologies. I find the PNG and GIF were faulty - Paint Shop Pro 6 had omitted the transparency. Thanks.

V0.48 Importing transparent bitmap

Can anyone tell me how to get a transparent bitmap imported? File Import of PNG or GIF having white and transparent areas just creates an object that is solid white.

Thanks.

Re: Avoiding DXF export adding spurious vertex to polylines

Well this seems very similar to this topic: http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13874? Not at all. This is creation of spurious vertex upon export. That is creation of spurious stroke upon import. we have already a 4 node path, which saved as DXF, for some reason, adds an extra nod...

Re: Preventing stroke width on DXF open

you just made that first screenshot as an illustration? Correct. Do you normally not use Inkscape to create the DXF? I often use a CAD program. At first I was thinking, if you're using some other program to create the DXF, maybe it was something about that program, rather than the DXF format, that ...

Avoiding DXF export adding spurious vertex to polylines

I find that DXF export adds a spurious vertex to polylines, e.g. the attached rectangle object converted to path, saves as DXF, has these five vertices: http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/1672/regioncd.png This on V0.48.4. Anyone know a workaround? In Inkscape, or an alternative program to convert S...

Avoiding DXF export joining paths

I find that DXF export can join separate paths into one e.g. see the attached case of two quadrilaterals merged into a single 9-point polyline.

This on V0.48.4

Anyone know a workaround suitable for a document containing tens of thousands of paths? Thanks.

Re: Preventing stroke width on DXF open

I'm just wondering if you could save an SVG every time you save a DXF. Thanks, but I can't. Most of the programs in which I save DXF do not save SVG. Maybe Inkscape is just not capable of editing a DXF file? I've seen no evidence of that. maybe the Files chapter of the manual will have some comment...

Thanks - that works.

Interestingly loading the DXF and saving DXF in DS increases the size by 5x. So I guess something important was missing :)
