Re: RPG map tileset

Funny you ask this, the other day I published a tutorial outlining the workflow (mostly straight lines, converted to paths and then some node editing. But You may have say it already, I blogged about it in the meantime.

Re: RPG map tileset

Done. The set consisting of 50 images is done and uploaded to OCAL (see the cartography tag) and also on my own website. Here are some samples: http://nicubunu.ro/pictures/rpg/buildings1.jpg http://nicubunu.ro/pictures/rpg/buildings2.jpg http://nicubunu.ro/pictures/rpg/buildings3.jpg

Re: RPG map tileset

I made them with the Bezier tool (straight lines), converted strokes to paths an then edited the nodes. You are right about the floor, thanks.

Re: Creating a rubber stamp

I suspect this is a bug in Inkscape, I saw in various instances the drawing disappearing after a boolean operation, but I am not able to reproduce the steps. Usually I change the shapes a bit, maybe simplify them and then the boolean operation works. I know I should be a good user, investigate it mo...

Re: Splashscreen for 0.46?

Usually the contest start when the development freeze for a release, usually after pre-0 and we are not at that point yet. Developers have not decided so far a date for the next release.

Re: Blur problem

Yeah, I saw this huge performance problem when using excessive blur. My final workaround is to NOT export the PNG from Inkscape. Save the SVG, open with GIMP and save the PNG with GIMP.

I didn't have the patience to wait 8 hours for the export like you and killed it about half hour...

Re: Handy programs to help with Inkscape work

ok how do I use Agave with IS?? I don't have a .create folder.. could someone post a step by step how to? the create website (at freedesktop.org) is down, so you can't install the package there. .create is a Linux thing, so here you can manually create it in Linux: go to your home folder and make a...

Re: How to save a drawing as .jpg or other common image format

Correct, PNG is the best format for raster export from Inkscape, but there are use cases for the other too. And we have in the tracker an enhancement request with a lot of duplicates. The problem is old, the solution is known, but it seems there are other priorities. Note: export in multiple raster ...

I can't draw but I want to draw people faces

A tutorial written at a very low level, suitable for beginners in which I'll talk about how to draw people faces (or hackergotchis) with Inkscape even if you don't know how to draw - http://howto.nicubunu.ro/inkscape_face_draw/. Something like this: http://howto.nicubunu.ro/inkscape_face_draw/dface_...

Another way is to open the XML Editor (Shift+Ctrl+X) and navigate here the objects, expanding the groups and so on.

Sure. You can even do more: create .ico files with multiple sizes/color depths by having each version of the icon in a separate layer.

In Linux you can use directly the PNG or even the SVG, you have to do nothing special.

One small note: WINK is freeware , not FOSS. It is not even freely redistributable.
But the program is nice, I used some time ago (before Istanbul was usable) on Linux.
