Resolution

Postby Jason Nail » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:48 pm

OK.

I imported an InkScape SVG image (plain SVG) to the GIMP at 4350 width. The height corresponded to 28xx. Is this the correct width if I am looking for a page 13.5 inches in width?

What resolution am I looking for? Is this the DPI? I want 1400 DPI, So I put it in there.

I am waiting as I type for the fuzer to stop. Kind of reminds me of a Turing Machine! LOL

4350 pixels/(1400 pixels/in) = 3.1 inches.
4350 pixels/13.5 in = 322 pixels/in.

in more general terms, Pixel dimension divided by resolution is equal to width, pixel dimension divided by width is equal to resolution. (by definition)
Your mind is what you think it is.

Thank you very much! I'm showing different values. But, I am on the right track now and should be able to do the backwards math to accomplish my goal.

Thank you very much! jaso
