When I played with Inkscape Gradient Mesh tool, I think that it can have better support. Especially with Gradient Mesh coming into the SVG 2.0 format. When you move individual points, you get sharp edges. You can't duplicate or copy/paste gradient meshes. There really needs some more flexibility within Inkscape Gradient Mesh tool, and I hope to see it by the time SVG 2.0 comes. Also, a easier way to keep multiple gradient meshes intact with each other would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm happy with gradient meshes coming to svg2 mainly because of interoperability it may provide. That's something vector programs really need, but vector files can be worked on with multiple programs with some few adjustments there and there at this point anyway. This is all coming from a person who knows about how to use Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape, and likes to use two of those programs individually to produce vector files. Right now, I am using AI EPS extension and it's good enough for me to work with two programs at once.

Very few devs participate on this forum, which is for user support. And since most of us haven't even seen the gradient mesh tool, not many of us can discuss it.

I think the gradient mesh tool UI is known to still need polishing...
