Aligning to real measurements on a4 page

Postby Vectorator » Mon Sep 12, 2016 7:15 pm

I am having a small issue and have a general question all about precise printing onto a page for the exact size.

First I found that if I try to print directly from Inkscape the printout is misaligned and some is cut off from the left (is there a setting to fix this)?
It works to export the file as pdf and print with acrobat reader (for example) choosing 'exact size'.

I am trying to print labels on a low cost laser printer and even when I do all those things the printer itself isn't very accurate and is a bit off.
What type of printer could I buy that is designed for mm precision for instance? Is there a certain feature/specification to look for?
Can anyone recommend a laser printer that is precise?

Any ideas would be appreciated :)

Hi.

Not sure about the printer but there are posts here about the same problem and they usually got solved by updating the printer's driver. May worth a try.

HP pro-sumer level laser printers usually have settings menu for precise alignment.

I'd find the manuals online and see which ones meet your needs.

I'm happy with LJ2300 PCL6 (BW) and LJ400 color M451nw.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
