Hackfest: Boston/USA, RedHat Boston Office, 26-30 March 2018

A hackfest! We will work on Inkscape bugs, new features, and packaging as well as website issues; in fact anything that can benefit from developers and users being physically in the same space. The timing of the hackfest will be next to the Software Freedom Day conference held at MIT.

The hackfest will take place at RedHat's office at 300 A Street. which is located in the harbour district, a walkable distance from the very center of town. RedHat's office is also a short walk from South Station, one of the main MBTA mass transit stops.

Bump: a week to go before action.

-Till then, remixing the previous clipart for a bit of more carousel time...

Did we make a formal request for an Inkscape account to the carousel? Or is the idea stuck in the Vectors team, waiting for discussion about making the request?

Yes and no.
No, there was no team account made. Would take a mail adress for registering, though it'd be silly using one account with multiple users -never a good idea.
Mailed to the developers beforehand if they could sticky an upload -probably they could do that if they uploaded the clipart under the openclipart user account, however there was no response when I sent them the svg and description directly.
So there was a formal request for making a sticky but not from a formal account.

Didn't let the idea stuck in the vectors team, took action beforehand as there was no time or reason to wait until the hackfest is over to announce it.

This topic is slightly getting into another work in progress one...
Anyway, today's turbulence floats with squares:

I might be able to find space for one on Inkscape Community forum index. Or maybe a smaller version? I see that you are having fun with it!

One apple a day, keeps the doctor away.
Haven't been drawing much with inkscape lately, these are just quick filter editing. May pack them into one after 26th.

A review of Day 1 at Hackfest has been posted to the development mailing list. I've asked for permission to post it in full into forums. But until that permission comes through, you can read the message in the archives: https://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mail ... /36277359/

And here's a video of Day 1 Debrief:

THANKS HACKERS !!

Thanks Martin!

And thanks again to all the hackers in Boston!!

On the mailing list, I found a Day 4 Summary video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqQI2Y1 ... e=youtu.be

Since Day 1 was posted above, I haven't seen a Day 2 or 3 yet. Will post in order, if I find them (if they exist?).

Edit
Aahh, it seems that there were not any summaries for days 2 and 3 -- just a lot of heavy duty coding on one day, and outreach on the other day!

Even though Hackfest is over, there was another message posted to the mailing list, during hackfest, which users may find interesting to read, which I only just now am getting around to reading. For those who might be interested:
