Not being able to see stroke lines and objects

Postby chouw99 » Sun Feb 12, 2017 5:44 am

Hi, I cannot view my lines for some reason and they show up as invisible with a dotted outline. The lines were visible to begin with and the transparent settings on stroke are set to 100, line width is 0.05mm as with all other lines in the drawing. I have followed the guide here to no avail http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/39496/shapes-not-showing-in-inkscape

Please let me know what may be happening here and how to fix it, any input is appreciated.

Opacity looks like it might be 98.something, instead of 100%. But that's not the main problem.

I notice in the status bar that the selected objects have a filter applied to them. Try Filters menu > Remove Filters. My first guess is that they have so much blur applied to them, that you can't see them at all!

If that doesn't fix it, would you be able to share the SVG file?

Hi brynn, thank you, setting the filter to off solved all the problems! Might have been the blur issue, though its feels weird how I see this issue come and go once in a while.

Cheers

You might be accidentally drawing with the Pen or Pencil with non-regular settings. When you see it happen, check the control bar of whichever tool you're using. Make sure the Shape option is set for None.

Whenever you see it happen, pause for a while, check the status bar, try to find some more clues. We commonly see complaints about not being able to see a stroke, and the cause is usually either the user had turned off the stroke and forgot, or they made it transparent accidentally. Here's a small article/tutorial to help you fix any transparency or opacity issues you might have: https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/ind ... article=18
