Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"
I do not believe that the link is working all I get is an image not a zip file.
Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"
I think it is some sort of hotlink protection. Try copying and pasting the link in a new browser window (you may need to refresh if the page is cached).
Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"
I beleive that it is protected somehow.

Its checking the refferer is bitbox. simply hit reload on the page with the image, it'll see the old page was on bitbox and it should then do the zip.

here is the original post: the link to the SVG zip is somehere near the end...

Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"
How do you break the brushes up. What I mean is that the brushes seem to be only one object instead of individual objects. I tried to ungrouping, break apart, I even tried deleting individual brushes, but I still end up with an bounding box that is 417 x 1765 for the first object and then the bounding box decreases in size as I delete some of the brushes, but overall it is still oversized significantly.

The brushes are in three nested groups. Select the main object and hit Ungroup three times. Then you should see all 36 brushes selected individually.

Out of curiosity how did you know to do that?
Re: a cool set of swirl "brushes"
For some reason, I've found that it's pretty common for SVGs I find online to have the entire thing in a set of at least two nested groups. It seems pointless to me, but maybe the applications people are using to create the SVGs do it automatically.
Anyway, when you select the object, the status line at the bottom of the window says it's a group. And when Ungroup is clicked, the status line still says a group is selected. So just keep pressing Ungroup until you see the objects themselves selected. As long as at least one of the selected objects is a group, the Ungroup command will work, so you can get rid of all groups in a document by selected everything and clicking Ungroup until the status line tells you: "No groups to ungroup in the selection."

When you find docs like this, they've generally come from illustrator, whose svg output is pretty horrible from an editablity point of view.
Generally select and repeated ungroup will make it somewhat more editable. theres often a bunch of Illustrator only stuff in there too that you can kill
that will reduce the filesize substantially. This file gos from 250kB to 25kB without loosing any of the actual SVG for instance.

Ok I will pay more attention to the notification area.
