another gradient workaround

I'm not good at English so I'm not sure if this title is clear enough.
I've try to figure inskape since long time ago, but seems cant control it very well.

I think inkscape (maybe it's SVG's problem) need to introduce something like gradient mesh or diffusion curves formally.
I'm troubled with the basic essensial need of these feature! It makes easy jobs harder to done. And don't know why they are still not standard these day.
For example if I want to make a perspective effect, gradient is sure not going to do things right.

However, I found something to workaround (strictly to say, everyone know blur simulate like gradient, but maybe this method will makes it easier to create.).

As you can see, I create the mesh to define the color on each block more precise, so the final effect is more realistic.
When I use the traditional method -- keep adding linear or radial gradient on the surface and keep overlay on it, this sometimes realy cumbersome, and the final effect is not always what I want.

I still think blur and gradient is two kinds of thing, blur will have transparency issue, and I'm not sure if blur consume more cpu resources then gradient. So gradient mesh still needed to include in SVG standard.
If someone have better way to make these smooth gradient works, please teach me, I'd love to know, thanks.

Hi.

Nice! First test using the technique;

omg, I never expect so fast to got a reply XD. Thank you.

You can try to blur more. But in the same time the transparancy problem will enlarge.
To fix this either put a white background shape, or slice the mesh more thinner.

There is a gradient mesh tool under development. A release date has not been announced, so it could still be years away. See FAQ# B.13. for more info.

Hi.

treegb - Really liked this way of creating a "fake" gradient!
Thank you so much for posting this!

Seems similar.

On a sphere, radial gradients can make a better use in my humble opinion.

Off topic:
And, what if gradient mesh would be the product? From tracing a bitmap, each pixel could get a colour on a mesh.
And maybe after, that gradient mesh could be bent?

Thanks for Brynn, Ragstian and Lazur URH

I'd try interpolate before, but the style just cant be interpolate only shape I don't know why, even I'd check the style checkbox.
And when things comes like this complex, I don't know if this method could handle

Many object are not born in sphere, curcle or ellipse.
But this is good method in some place, I use it sometime. Even no gradient in each object it do a good job just like your blue ball.

But even my workaround is not a very good solution, I try to simulate "modify" the shape afterwards just like gradient mesh do.
Tt works, but cumbersome, and time comsume too. It's not a good way totally.

And thanks for Brynn, I got that message. Hope gradient mesh feature will not be too long to wait for! Relly need this for me.

Lazur URH, the tile clone method is ture a good idea to transform image to svg.
