Change The Line Colour of a PNG

Postby affiliateguy » Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:23 pm

Hey All..
Before I get slated by all please let me explain what I have tried and failed...

I have a PNG image, a car, which is a basic black and white image. I what to use this image for a whiteboard effect. I can convert it to a SVG in inkscape no problems....However I want the drawing lines NOT THE FILL, to be in another colour say red....So all the lines are now red and not black.

I have tried, using the PNG image, to change the lines to red but have failed at every try. I have tried OBJECT - FILL AND STROKE - changed the colour but that does not work. I am left with the black lines....

Nothing seems to change the line colour...what am I doing wrong.....please help

Please share the bitmap if you can.

I'd import the png into Inkscape and use the trace tools. After, hide the png in another layer or delete it. Then modify the paths made by the trace.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

I am sure their is a simple process. But I can not work it out..

The image is a png file which I will then convert ibto a SVG which I know how to do...But please I want to change the line colour...

You can't change anything in the PNG with Inkscape. You'll only be able to change it after you convert to vector. Even though the imported PNG image is in the SVG file, it still is a raster image, and Inkscape cannot edit it. Inkscape can only edit the paths you created with Trace Bitmap.

Theoretically you can.
Though with a black and white image it may not work.
