Exporting as DXF fails, need for xmas!

I have a file that I am trying to get to a .dxf for use on a CNC machine, when exporting as a .dxf from inkscape, i am left with a 5kb size file that contains no data. If I export as a vector PDF to import into AutoCAD to convert it to dxf from there, it contains no vector data and can only be imported as a raster image which does not help me any.

Need this as a .dxf by end of the day today to get it cut on the CNC in time for christmas present, please help
