remember opened panels?

Postby sanzoghenzo » Fri Jun 14, 2013 10:37 pm

Hi all, still having troubles making inkscape work for me instead the other way round :P
Everytime I fire up inkscape (even when opening svg files) on my mac I have to open and rearrange all the panels (I liked tabbed panels to save space on my 13" macbook pro).
Is there a way to record these settings and restore them at start? I tried by saving a ~/.config/inkscape/templates/default.svg with no succes.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Try with:
Inkscape preferences / Windows
:tool_zoom: <<< click! - but, those with a cheaper tickets should go this way >>> :!:

what should I find there? I cannot see any options that helps...
saving windows dimensions doesn't save panels settings.

Perhaps you`re right. I use floating panels and "Remember and use last window`s geometry" does saves positions for those panels. I thought it would do the same for dockable panels aswell.

Yes,I forgot to mention that, I'm using docked panels.
Should I file a bug?

Have you tried "Remember...."?

p.s.
Not sure if this would be a bug, since there are shortcuts for panels and they would appear at the same place each and every time. ,) Instead reordering, you could "call" them in a desired order.

p.p.s.
Check this topic. Might be interesting for you.
You are aware of that Search box at the top right corner, right? ,)

Ups, I didn't try to search the bugs... and it looks it's already solved here. too bad mac binaries are not so up to date and homebrew has troubles with dependencies...

yeah, I'm used to the shortcuts, and I call them everytime. but since I discovered there's the possibility to have tabbed panels (or dialogs as they call them, I use italian version and didn't know the exact english term), I would like to open dialogs directly docked and tabbed (remember, 13", so not so big screen real estate ;) ).

I already saw that post (I posted here since I cannot find an answer to my question in this forum, even google didn't give me answers-maybe wrong search terms?), but I didn't find anything new: I'm on mac osx and dialogs comes always docked and stacked (but not tabbed).

Thanks a lot for your time!

You`re welcome.
Hope you`ll find a way to overcome the small real estate issue ,)
