Spam Protection Issue

Postby Slow Dog » Fri Jan 09, 2009 10:30 pm

I've not been able to access the forum for some days. When I tried, I got the same error screen as in this post:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2114

Having no access, it was difficult to find a way of reporting the problem. I hope the corrected "banned" screen will provide a description of how to protest such a ban, and a means of doing so - that is, a method to log yourself out so as able to post anonymously. I couldn't get to the forum, and had no way of knowing that anonymous access would have been fine.

Oh, and I guess I'm on the ban list, and falsely (?) identified.

It's because of the new anti-spam module, I think it's disabled now.

Yeah, the ban modification is disabled now. If you were getting the error displayed in the other post it wasn't because it identified you as a spammer. The service I was using to check your details was obviously returning unexpected values -- I need to improve the error handling. Although I don't really understand why it was effecting some users and not others.

I do apologise for the inconvenience. I can appreciate that it would have been frustrating.
