Inkscape as a sign making tool

Postby mamos » Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi All

Has anyone tried to use inkscape in conjunction with a vinyl cutter to make vinyl signs.

I am a sign maker and a vector graphics specialist and I have just discovered inscape and I think it could make a fantastic alternative to the over priced sign making/design applications currently on the market.

Your input would be very welcome, you should try signing up to the Inkscape developer list or start a chat on #inkscape channel on IRC (you can find more info on the Inkscape website).

I think there has been some progress already in that direction, search the developer mailing list to see what was discussed.

I use Inkscape all the time as a signmaking tool, there are some restrictions but not many and it works perfectly with Signcut (from premiersign.co.uk) which is available on subscription so it is a very low cost alternative to 'sign' software.
