How to open a .cdr file

Postby capnhud » Wed Aug 29, 2007 7:44 am

Is coreldraw the only application that is capable of opening this type of file? If someone has illustrator do you mind converting this to eps?

I have illustrator and would be happy to convert it for you. If you don't want to post the file online, just say and I'll send you my e-mail address in a message.

I could also use Illustrator to convert it to SVG if you intend to edit it in Inkscape.

It is this logo here. If you could convert to svg for inkscape I would appreciate it.

Rather beta. CDR might be supported in Inkscape later when somebody implements support for UniConvertor.

Just a heads up: for about a month Inkscape can open CDR files (paths only, with flat fill and stroke) via UniConvertor. This is a Linux version only feature rigth now, because UC is Linux only yet.

my recent experience has been that embedded bitmaps in CDRs are not converted at all in the CDR->SVG process via UniConverter.
--hasi.

I am also using Xubuntu 8.04/amd64 -64bitand
I installed Inkscape from 8.04 repo and I have working .cdr import.
Also I managed to compile sK1 and convert it to .deb using this forum instructions:
http://sk1project.org/forum/topic.php?forum=1&topic=49
I downloaded FC7 precompiled 64-bit binary and converted it to amd64 binary .deb on Xubuntu 8.04/amd64 using command alien.

Drawing (or vector image) created with CorelDRAW; proprietary format used by Corel software and is not recognized by most image editing programs; if opened in CorelDRAW, the file can be exported in other more compatible formats.

CDR files can also be opened by Corel Paint Shop Pro, but for best compatibility, Corel recommends saving the CDR file as version 9.0 or earlier in CorelDRAW.
