Let's say for $35.

Give my a reason why you would or wouldn't purchase it? Please explain in detail.

Yes and no. If they left it exactly the way it is now, no. But if they added 3 features to it, i would pay. The features i would like are these:

In GIMP, you can use display filters to simulate what the print will look like. This is nto same thing as color managment. Color managment will display out of gamit colors while a colorproof display filter displays all the rgb colors in whatever cmyk color space you have selected. Inkscape needs that. There color managment systme is not the best

Second, once you have the display out put in cmyk, it would be nice to export in cmyk rather than having to open it in krita and saving it out. I mean, krita is open source and free so why cant gimp and inkscape borrow the programming from krita and put it into inkscape and gimp?

Also, a nice feature illustrator has is to take a hi rez photo and do a high fiedlity trace of it. It looks amazing.

Anyway, those are my two things i would want if they were going to charge

thanks

Meow

I can't buy any computer program, because, they all needs credit card for paying.
I have zero credit cards.

I tried to buy Xara vector based program, but I can't.

Oh yes, of course, I have very limited number of money.

Would that be called inkscape then?
Draw freely. That will be 35$.
Does it make sence? No.

If it was moving to the commercial field, some features would be necessary.
Cmyk colours, mesh gradients to say at least.
Both of which were not taken into consideration in the svg specs.
Which inkscape is based upon.

So if there was a fork of inkscape, that had a whole new vector standard, would that be the same program?

Me, I need to export Illustrator EPS vector files from Inkscape first. Right now Illustrator rasterizes vector objects when it opens the EPS files. So I have no reason to buy Inkscape. I would rather buy Illustrator. If Inkscape exports Illustrator compliant files (the future gradient mesh included), then Inkscape should have easy to use scripting suport, as Illustrator has. In any language, but javascript would be preferable to me. Then I would consider to buy Inkscape. If Inkscape had these features, even without scripting, I would surely donate small amounts, from time to time...

For big projects I would need a serious Object Manager like, say, Corel Draw has. Not the nerdy XML editor. That's not pro software. (not seen 0.91 yet)
But it's close! Add CMYK, Object manager and a curved gradient and you have a competitive product.

Yes,
BUT ONLY if there was a little more development to tidy the interface up and include some professional printing and layout features at least to the level of Illustrator or Coreldraw..

Maybe no, since I have no credit card to pay for it at the moment.
I'll consider carefully if there's new update & feature that worth buying.
