Hi,

recently I realised that I would like to have a special feature in inkscape but I don't know how to do it.

It would be really great to import few svg files, and move them on the screen in a special way:
1) Keep minimum distance between vector
2) Keep minimum distance between shapes

I would like to optimize projects to save as much space as possible when printing/cutting.
I thought also about calculating the shape size based on pixels amount and displaying usage/waste ratio on current project.

It would be really usefull to design for example clothes patterns.
It would allow us to place some elements on the screen and manipulate them in a way to use available material in a best way.
Does anyone know how to achieve that ?
Where to search for such feature ?
I think I should be able to write my own methods but I don't know where to start.
Or maybe there is some app or extension with that feature around ?
