There are a lot of repeats in the list. Was this intentional?

im not sure what you mean by repeats...

if you are using the categories on the RHS of the page, you may get this effect as a single post can be in 1..many categories, but the posts are only there once...

Theres a few on my blog at simarilius.wordpress.com feel free to link those.
Theres also a really ugly how to on making markers in the sharetutorials folder,
it may need updating though as it was written midway through getting the marker stuff working.
There used to be a shiny marbles one i wrote on the wiki too, seems to have got lost at some point when the servers changed, will see if i can find it when i get home from this trip.

I had a go at doing a screencast version, just because it would probably make more sense, but there was something to do with the screen grab software that meant that dragging nodes around in the XML editor wouldnt work, which meant I couldnt create the markers :)
I'd always planned a convert to marker type menu item ala convert to pattern, so had put off updating/making pretty that quick and dirty one. guess I need to pull my thumb out and do one or the other :)

ill add those tutorials for sure sim. especially the irregular gradients one - that is a great tip that i have been using for a while myself :P

im building up a lot of drafts in my wordpress.com blog account, and ill slowly publish them all (2-3 tutorials a day i think until i get most of the pre-existing tutorials on the web)

i dont wanna swamp the inkscape planet planet :P

also, on the topic of markers, it would be cool to be able to just "import" a marker def from any file into the defaults or just into the current document (when you get the marker editor working...)

also, is it possible to get gradients to work in markers? i tried but failed... :)

Seems to work in SVN without any trouble.

Dont waste time on doing a screencast about making markers, was going to do one myself but the hack I was explaining was so horrible that I've just coded the convert selection to marker menu item instead :)

Hi syednayab,
If you didn't see any on that list, you could also check out the video tutorials at the link in my signature. And there are a surprising (to me) number of tutorials scattered about the internet. So an internet search might also be helpful.

I haven't seen any tutorials specifically for book covers. Is it a book cover, as on the front of a hardback or paperback book? Or a book cover like when I was in grade school, and we were required to put covers on our hardback schoolbooks, to help protect them from wear? Well, either way, it seems to me like the graphic design would be more important than the physical shape. Are you interested in drawing something that reflects the subject of the book, like with images? Or would it basically be text (title and author)?

does anyone have a link to an inkscape tutorial someone did a while ago. It was a logo with the words Denali Designs, and the colors were black and gold.

I cant seem to find the link to it on google anymore, and I didnt bookmark it when I stumbled upon it a few months ago (stupid me)

You don't remember anything else about it -- not the logo, but about the tut? Was it video or text? Anything about the hosting website?

I remember that the tutorial was text only, and the author showed the steps through a series of images. But I apologize, I cannot remember anything about the hosting website (and I'm really trying!).

It looked like the author made a gold text logo using the words Denali Designs, with a black outsetted background of the text.

It vaguely "rings a bell" but I don't know.
If it's a particular technique you're looking for though, if you could describe it or show us another example (please make new topic in Help forum) we could probably help there.
Or maybe someone else remembers?

Hello All,
Newbie here. I dl inkscape to use with my new cutter/plotter and am learning how to use this. I went all the way back to your 1st tut and getting the hang of it. I am having a problem with tut. 4 (checkerboard) and after the horizontal flip, I can get them to do the first align, but when I get to the second align it combines into the top one. I have repeated this vid and to no avail it still keeps doing it. HELP!
ps love the tuts, but you be movin that mouse too quick!

Hi hms1018,
Yeah, you're right, he does move that mouse fast! That was one of the earliest videos that they made, and I think now they do better about explaining things, where you don't have to actually see what the mouse is doing as much. But I did manage to catch the buttons in the Align and Distribute dialog that he used.

First he has "Last selected" chosen from the "Relative to" dropdown list. That may be the source of your problem. Then he clicked "Center on vertical axis". And then "Align left edge of object to right edge of anchor".

After you've replied, I'll split your messages out of this topic, into a topic of your own. If you had started a new topic in the first place, your message would probably have been answered a long time ago. But if I split them out now, you'll think they were deleted. (This topic is about a list of tutorials that is entirely different from the one you're using. That's why no one knew which one you're talking about.

So anyway, if changing the 'Relative to' to 'Last Selected' doesn't work, then we need to get clear on exactly which step you're talking about. Like maybe the time stamp of the video at the place where you start having trouble. Or something?
