Dynamic zoom presets

Postby Brice » Tue Nov 06, 2018 7:25 pm

Hello, i find that some zoom variants are missing, the page zoom is too high, continue to click 5 could navigate between 3 or 4 zoom presets.

I don't talk about an exact % value but a proportion of the page compared to the canvas frame size, for me the more significant should be 1/2 and 1/3, and eventually 1/4, i mean that the greatest page dimension should be centered and 50%, 33% or 25% smaller than the same canvas frame dimension.

Are you saying that something has changed for you, about how zooming works? Or are you saying you prefer the zoom steps to be set differently, or for zooming to have different options?

To be honest, I don't find the zoom presets to be especially helpful. I usually either drag the zoom tool to get my prefered amount of zoom, or I set the tiny spinbox in the bottom-right corner of the window to a certain value. Then after I've created a few useful settings that way, I navigate them using the ` key. ` goes through them forward, and Shift + ` goes back the other way.

As far as I know, it's not possible to change much about zooming, in Inkscape. If you want to make a feature request (or report a bug), you can do that here: https://launchpad.net/inkscape (Note that Inkscape developers tend not to visit forums. If you'd like to have a discussion with developers, it's either mailing list or IRC (info here: https://inkscape.org/community/)

One can change the step size in the settings, but that is for zooming with mouse scroll, or with zoom tool + click.
