However, I normally succeed to print my documents. I have just finished my first Inkscape document and now I cannot print it. Print to file works fine, but not to printer. The printer shows in the window, and can be selected, but I get the following message under "status" in the print dialog box: "The process 'rastertobrother4040' stopped unexpectedly with status 1". The Print Preview doesn't work either, and gives the following message:
Error launching preview
Failed to execute child process "evince" (No such file or directory)
My printer is a Brother MFC-9440 CN. My computer is an Imac 24" 2.16 GHz with Mac OSX 10.4.11.

If you haven't already, download the latest drivers for your printer from the manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work, try exporting the image as a PNG and printing it with another application.

I have the latest driver for my printer. So this is final? I will not be able to print directly from inkscape?

Try uninstalling Inkscape, deleting the Inkscape folder from under your profiles app data folder, and re-install Inkscape. If that still doesn't work, try installing the development version of Inkscape and see if that can print ok.
