Forum categories and subjects

Postby Simarilius » Wed Jun 06, 2007 3:55 am

Hi micro,
got a couple of suggestions regarding the structure. Basically boils down too I think its too big...
Until theres enough members and it starts getting crowded I'd suggest cutting the number of sub forums back so that
the traffic you do get will remain relatively focused. "How can I do this?" and "tips and tutorials" have huge overlap, If you find the
tutorials getting swamped in the questions, create an index thread in there thats sticky.
I'd consolidate all the inkscape + others into a single forum, if you find you get a ton of gimp type q, you can always spin it off again later.

Other than that its looking very nice. If img attachment on site is doable, that would be a big plus, but i understand if thats a pain with servers/bw etc.

Anyways, thanks for buiding this.

Thanks for your suggestion. I can appreciate where you're coming from. I know there have been forums I've participated on where the seperation of content makes the forum clumsy to use when you have jump between different sections.

On the other hand, I like to have distinct categories so you can ignore areas that don't interest you and focus on areas that do.

I would be interested to hear what others think. Maybe provide some examples of your ideal structure.
