Extensions
--> Completed Extensions . . . . . This is for Extensions that are complete and only complete
--> In progress Extensions . . . . . Place where people can post status updates, ask for help, and ask for test users.
--> Group Effort Extension . . . . Basically a place where people can slowly get an extension done through a group effort.
--> Requested Extensions . . . . . . Requested extensions only
--> Extension Overview . . . . . . . This is to give out some of the basics on how to create a extension, perhaps even tutorials
Group Effort Extension
- Basically a place where people with non-programming skills/experience can try to help out on a extension. For example Member A deposits a couple of Icons for the extension, and member B posts some sudo code. Ultimately a user who knows what he/she is doing will have to go in there and stitch together the pieces to make the extension.
Completed Extensions
- Idealy, this could become a extension repository, kind of like what this guy was envisioning here:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... repository
except, it just lists the extensions (at least it would be a start )
- in order to do this we must make sure that each completed extension is following some sort of standard layout.
Other notes
- whenever inkscape is updated, all of the completed extensions should go into a temporary sub forum called Uknown Combatibility. They will sit there until someone can confirm that it is compatible with the new version of Inkscape.
- If it sits there for a set length of time, then it should go into the Group Effort Extension, so that it can be worked on some more.
This is kind of a hodge-podge of ideas, but I figured that putting the ideas out there would be better since someone can act upon or add to the idea instead of having them sit my head, doing nothing.

A new forum called Extensions
Re: A new forum called Extensions
Welcome to InkscapeForum!
We recently started a new forum called Programming, which in part, is for the purpose of getting help writing extensions. Note that this is not a developer's forum. In fact, very few Inkscape developers actually participate here. This is primarily a user's forum. Of course developers are more than welcome
I don't know if the developers might have some sort of clearinghouse for writing extensions, somewhere? Maybe there's a mailing list? You can check them out here: http://inkscape.org/mailing_lists.php?lang=en
Edit
I did find this in my favs, but the last time I looked at it, it was rather outdated. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... Repository . But maybe a good place for you to start, if you have time and energy to contribute in the area of developing extensions
Edit #2
Actually repository look better than the last time I saw it!

Re: A new forum called Extensions
Thank you for welcoming me.
The reason I made the above post was that I just happened to notice a couple of topics mentioning extensions in the forum below.
viewforum.php?f=11
Just thought it might be helpful if there was one central location where they can post that stuff, or perhaps someone should move those kinds of topics to the programming forum that is setup here?

Re: A new forum called Extensions
Oh, I see
Well, I guess that forum is mostly for finished extensions to be announced. But you do have a good point, that a lot of people are using it to have their new extensions troubleshooted. (troubleshot??)
We'll have to wait for forum admin to clarify. I'll be glad to move any offending topics to a more appropriate forum, but not sure they're entirely inappropriate. I think that it started because there used to not be a Programming forum. New members see other similar messages, and just keep posting there.
Thanks for your comments. We'll get it worked out. Whether we need new forums or better descriptions, I'll leave for microUgly to say.

Troubleshooted is the right word
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to look into this issue.
