There should be Introduction section

Postby calieigh » Sun Jan 17, 2010 3:11 am

Hi All.

I searched whole site but i can't found Introduction section. If there is Introduction section new members can introduce himself/herself and feel familiar with the forum.
So Please Moderator and Administrators make note of it.

Hi Caleigh,
Welcome to the forum!
I'm not a moderator or admin, but I can offer a response. While this is, imo, the best place on the internet to get help with Inkscape, it does not tend to be a very social forum. I'm not sure why, but I do know that all forums will develop their own sort of personality, and this one seems to be like a work or businessplace atmosphere. I don't think it's a good or bad thing, it's just how this forum is.

Anyway, that said, we do have an Off Topic forum, which some people have used for introductions. But the bottom line is that your messages will always be answered here, and unless you have stumbled upon a bug, you problems will almost always be solved!

Everyone is welcome (English speakers....there are other forums for a few other languages). So please feel free to start a new topic for each problem with which you need help -- or for each image you want to display. And if you have a solution for someone else's issue, please don't hesitate to jump right in!

All best :D

Brynn is the man! XD
He's right. This is not a community forum, this is the inkscape forum where we can talk about it, share tutorials or just show our personal works.
And sure, welcome! ;)

An introduction area isn't something I thought was neccessary. I don't really see the purpose of one, but then, I don't participate on Facebook and Twitter, so I'm hardly a fair representation of web users :) And I certainly don't want to seem like we discourage Inkscapers getting to know each other on a more personal level.

Seeing some of my attitudes repeated in this topic has made me feel a bit like Scrooge :D So I've just now created a new forum section named "Personal discussions". Feel free to use it to introduce yourselves and get to know each other. I might even use it myself ;)

Thanks micro :D

And RM., no worries, I'm told in some parts of the world it's one of those names that are given to both males and females. Although I have yet to meet anyone with the same name
