Symbols Library

Postby drawfree123 » Thu Oct 16, 2008 4:51 am

Anyone know of any plan by the developers to include a symbols library? A symbol is a special object with the following characteristics;

They allow you to edit the object in one place and for all occurrences of that object to be updated.They also reduce overall file size as only a link to the representative symbol is used as an object in the drawing no matter how many times this object is used, this is useful when making maps.

In Inkscape these are called "Clones". Inkscape doesn't maintain a "library" of them though.

I wonder if you might find a font, like a wingding type of font, containing map symbols?
Just a thought :D

I prefer to open 2 docs from the same session and copy and paste.
A decent library type section is in the plans, just no ones working on it at the minute afaik.
