posting problems.

Postby Darth_Gimp » Fri Jul 13, 2007 9:58 am

Recently I have had to re-do several posts multiple times because pressing "Submit" does nothing. It goes through the motions of posting and then returns you to where you were responding to.. but no response from you.

My entry to the second competition was posted 6 times before it finally showed.

I've had this a couple of times, if you hit back it should go back to the filled in post form, I've never had it fail to work 2nd time.

Thanks for reporting this. I've experianced it myself, but I experiance it on a lot of websites due to a bad proxy on my end so I didn't suspect an issue with this site.

I experience this same problem too. Only sometimes it takes more than two times before the submission works. Like just now

Re: Edit problems.

I think I may have solved the "edit problem." I just finished this post:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=138&p=809#p809

And noticed I totally screwed up the quoting. So, I redid it, and copied it in case the edit didn't take (I was going to delete the post and post anew). *This* time however, I previewed first, it showed up fine so then I submit.

Everything posted fine. So, maybe that is a temporary fix for those experiencing problems?

Are you suggesting that previewing your changes before you press submit get around the issue? Strange.

Note also you should be able to press your browsers 'back' button and click submit again. I'm not sure about IE, but Opera and Firefox will recall what you had attempted to submit so you can quickly attempt to submit it again.

Basically, yeah. I've only done it twice though, but it has worked both times. So... maybe?

Yep, I've done it that way several times. But I've had to submit up to six or so times before it actually sent. If I preview first, it sends on the first submit. (Again, I only tested that twice.)

It appears that yes if you preview before you submit your post before posting, it will post on the first try.

That would suggest it's not a server issue, but an issue with phpBB. I wasn't able to find any reports of this issue on the phpBB forums :(

So this issue is continuing otherwise? I've recreated the database, patched phpBB to the latest version, and cleared all cached data. I haven't experianced it for myself for a while now, but I always preview first.

Hey guys,

It's been suggested over at the phpBB forum for us to clear our cache and cookies and restart our browser to fix this issue. Please give this a try and let me know if you think it has fixed the issue or not.

If you don't know how to clear your cache/cookies, let me know which browser you're using and I'll explain.
