Inkscape, GIMP, and Welovefine templates

Postby tigress303 » Thu Jul 30, 2015 6:08 pm

Hello everybody!
I started teaching myself to use inkscape a few weeks ago in order to enter a design contest on Welovefine. After hours of work, the design is finished! However, I need to get it onto Welovefines template to display and enter the design. I have tried exporting my design in png and jpg in multiple sizes. However, whenever I try to paste them to the correct layer in the Welovefine template in gimp, the design background doesn't turn up transparent, I have no idea how to adjust the size, and can't seem to paste it to the given layer for the design itself! If anybody could give me a hand, I would be very grateful especially since submissions close in abut 5 days.

I tried to post the Welovefine template and instructions that came with it but the files were too big or had the wrong extension.

Hi.

Hve you checked if your drawing really is transparent?
Did your export to PNG using Ctrl+E keyboard shortcut in Inkscape?
Did you use another program to alter the file after exporting from Inkscape (eg. to reduce the file size)?
Have you tried to open the png file in Gimp alone (no template loaded first)?

Thank you for the advice! It turns out I wasn't hitting the "export" button hence the confusion ^_^; I was also able to resize it to fit the 1000x1000 template for welovefine. Since I have no experience with GIMP, I am taking the necessary files to my friends house since he has photoshop and knows how to use it.
