Outset not working

Outset not working

Every time I go to make a font thicker I used to do it by selecting outset but now when i do so it makes the font way to thick and bumpy. What can i do to fix this?

You can either (temporarily) make the text bigger, and then apply the outset, or you could set the outset step amount in the preferences, at Edit -> Preferences -> Behavior -> Steps : Inset / Outset by

Or use Dynamic Offset, where you can drag to set the distance. Or add a stroke, which width can be varied, rather than outset.
