Extension for add svg to canvas

Hi guys, I am new in the development of extensions for inkscape. Basically I need an extension that allow me add svg file from local folder to my canvas, but using an extension in python. Somebody help with this job?. Thanks friends! ;)

File -> Import doesn't work?...

So, you can have a look at the web pages we have made for extensions devs here:
https://inkscape.org/en/develop/extensions/
and also take a look at some of the preexisting extensions to understand how to insert and edit document nodes.

Try to reuse as much code as possible ;-) and remember to comply to the licence if you copy any code.
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

I asked a similar questions here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27324. At the time, it seems like it is not possible to link to an svg or pdf file, only to bitmap files. I think this would be a cool feature addition and very helpful when creating panels within a figure, which is a common when communicating scientific findings. As inkscape has previously received some press as a great tool for creating scientific posters, facilitating figure panel creation could lead to wide adoption among a scientific audience.
