Title: Text wont type properly in inkscape, but works fine in Microsoft word, etc
Post by: zackatack9000 on December 06, 2018, 08:57:46 AM
Hello everyone!

i've been using inkscape for some time and usually never post on forums, but i cant figure this out

i've uploaded many new fonts which work perfectly, but this particular font is giving me what for only in inkscape. it uploads great in Microsoft word, but i need it as a vector in inskscape.

the font is called "Leculier"

i've included a screen shot. I have typed hello which displays at the bottom right of the screen, but on the actual canvas, its weird symbols. any ideas?

thanks in advance!!

Sometimes a font is made so badly that Inkscape cuts of parts of letters. I don't think that's the case here, but maybe you could try to convert the text to path, which usually fixes the problem, at least for the visuals?

If it's a free font, would you share a download link, so we can test?

It does sort of look like HELLO, in a way.  It looks like the negative of those letters - like if you differenced them from a rectangle.  But I can't see the status bar, so I can't check if we're seeing the fill or stroke.

Yes its a free font

After about 3 hours I did find away around the issue. I type out my text in Microsoft word then export as a PDF file, then open it in inkscape. it uploads properly as an object then I simply trace the nodes to make a stroke. its a longer process so it would defiantly be easier if I could simply type my text into inkscape to start with.

let me know what yall find out!

thanks!!
