Hi, I am new to Inkscape and was wondering how I can create a curved text like in the attached examples.
Like in the old songs and melodies poster where the bottom of the text follows a curve and the top of the word follows a straight line.

Or like the word revival in the example below, where the word follows a unique curve ... top and bottom.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
You can do that using a special extension, which does not come installed with Inkscape. It's called Bezier Envelope extension, and you can find it here: https://github.com/shlomif/Bezier-Envelope-for-Inkscape
This FAQ explains how to install it: https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#how-install-new-extensions-palettes-document-templates-symbol-sets-icon-sets-etc
You can draw the shape which you want the text to follow. Or else on this webpage, you can find a file of shapes which are already drawn for you. http://cleversomeday.com/textwarpink/
