Hello,

I am brand new to Inkscape.
Some time ago I purchased a professional designer to create my company logo.

I do like the ability to modify it in some cases.
As Corel draw was too expensive to me, while I wouldn't work daily with the software, I found "Inkscape".

Unfortunately, I encounter a problem when importing the company logo.
Presently I have it in AI, EPS and APE type.

I could import the file, but the group of layers are missing.
So I do need some help or info on how to solve this problem, in order to use Inkscape with layers.

I searched already a lot, but can't find the trick.

Inkscape doesn't support layering on import. Everything will be put into the same layer. Is there any object missing from the drawing, or is the drawing itself complete?

Hello,

When I import the logo is complete So this isn’t an issue.
But it should be wonderfull to have seperated layers.

Is there a chance to receive a file made in another program where I can import the layers?
Or must it be made in Inkscape?

I don't know of any file format where that format's layers would be preserved on import.

It also doesn't work for SVGs created in Inkscape - you would need to 'open' them, not import.

Import always puts the objects into the current layer.

Opening a document with layers only works for Inkscape SVGs.

I think there is a feature request for something similar somewhere - if you cannot find it, feel free to create a new one at https://inkscape.org/report .
