Title: Path effect editor- apply new effect

Hello people, I am totally new to inkscape and I am following a video on YouTube showing how to do a knot effect. I am from Wales and Celtic knots are almost as important as rugby.
However in path effects editor the video shows a drop down menu at the top under the heading apply new effect. This drop down has a list of different effects. Yet on my version, ( .92 ) there is no apply new effect or drop down menu. Should I re-install or is it hidden somwhere. Thanks in advance.

Click on the + icon in the bottom left corner of the dialog to add a new effect to the selected path.

Welcome to the forum!

That tutorial was probably made with an older version, where the dropdown menu was showing.  Now you have to click the plus sign to get the list of LPEs.

Would you share a link to that tutorial please?  I haven't been very successful using that LPE, so I'd like to learn how it works.
