Title: Can't copy paths
Post by: Pecksnifferous on December 01, 2018, 10:14:40 PM
Hi, I am trying to copy, paste, then modify paths. The copy of the path is not a path one copied (if that makes sense). Each time I have to make a new path, rather than being able to slightly edit path from previous path. The top one is the original, the bottom the copy. I haven't used Inkscape for a while and have just installed it on my new Mac but haven't had this problem previously (user of many years). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure if I understand what the problem is, but I think you're running into a bug which is particular only to Inkscape installed on Mac systems.  Pasting anything causes it to become rasterized, or i.e. it becomes an image instead of a path.  Your screenshot looks like that might be it, anyway.  To avoid that bug, you can use Duplicate instead of Copy/Paste.  The duplicated path will be right on top of the original, so you just have to drag it away, and put it where you want it.

If that's not it, could you please explain in a little more detail?  And/or share an SVG file which is showing the problem.

Here is a bunch of info about using Inkscape on Mac systems, which you might find helpful, sooner or later.  https://inkscape.org/learn/faq/#mac-os-x-specific-issues  You might not ever have these other problems, but just in case.

I guess you missed the installation instructions: https://inkscape.org/de/release/0.92.2/mac-os-x/107/dmg/
