Hi everyone:

I've realize that the oficial manual (Tavmjong) it's not complete as earlier old versions . The manual for  0.47 and 0.48 versions in Spanish they are missing. The present version in English is incomplete. The fifth edition for the manual (for o.92 and 0.93) they aren't updates but still incompletes.

Does anyone know where is a complete version in html o pdf format?

Thanks.

Welcome SUMATORIO!

Yes indeed, we are certainly in need of a current manual!  Unfortunately, the current "official" manual has a single author and a license that does not allow anyone except him to edit.  And, well, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, he is a very busy developer who has been focussing on developing Inkscape, rather than updating the manual.

There is a current effort to create a new beginners guide.  (which I think the community needs more than a new manual)  Depending on one's perspective, I would estimate it's about halfway finished.  I think we've been hoping that after the beginners guide is finished, we can embark on creating a new official manual, which can be edited by anyone in the community, and therefore can be kept up to date, without depending on one person.

Then there is the series of tutorials by Mark Crutch which come monthly in Full Circle magazine.  I would say that his tutorials probably contain the most up-to-date contents.  The problem with recommending that for users, is that it's not easily searchable.  There are 60-something issues.  On the plus side, there are 5 or 6 special editions which contain only the Inkscape articles/tutorials.  I know FC comes in a few different languages, but I'm not sure if the special editions do.

Hhmm...it looks like those special editions are approx 8 articles all in one. So you can at least do a word search with them (either in the browser Edit menu > Find; or using Adobe Reader, the search feature is just a word search, same as the browser).  5 or 6 special editions is at least better than 60-some individual ones.

I think I'll try to use his thread in InkscapeForum.com to make a rough index.

Hah!  He's already made the index!  I'm always looking at the last topic in the thread, and have not looked at this first topic in a long time.  So now this first message contains the index!
