Yes, thanks mikey.  I found that.  I think I'm confused with what wysiwyg means in this context.  Because the option "wysiwyg only"......well, at the moment that's how I have it set, but there are no buttons.  The option "wysiwyg only" seems to be the same thing as the optioin "non-wysiwyg (standard)"

How can it be wysiwyg if there's nothing to see?

I'll get some sleep and tackle it tomorrow  :)

There is also a wysiwyg toggle bbc button with this symbol; (http://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/Themes/Prince_of_Darkness_201/images/bbc/toggle.gif)

But the wysiwyg toggle button isn't there, along with all the the other buttons that are not there.  Maybe I have some personal option still blocking it?

EDIT: After resetting options in profile, disregard related errors in admincp as they are non-consequential.

sigh.....you're not understanding my question, mikey.  Based on previous experience, we should probably just drop it, at this point.  But I'll try to explain, in case you're interested.

(I know how to get the bbc buttons and smileys, or just smileys showing, and with and without "wysiwyg", as far as SMF terminology.

My question is, what is the "wysiwyg only" option?  How is it any different from "non wysiwyg (standard)" option?  They look like the same thing to me.  They are absolutely identical to look at.

To me, the regular full editor is a wysiwyg editor.  And I understand what the difference is between wysiwyg and not wysiwyg, as far as SMF terminology.  You click that toggle button, and it switches the editor from using tags, to automatically showing whatever the tags call for.

But what is "wysiwyg only"?  If there are no buttons, there are no tags, and how does the editor know what to show?)

And thanks anyway  :)

(fwiw, what I was hoping for is a bbc buttons and no smileys option.  I might make a feature request in the SMF forum topic for this mod.  But I want to keep the mod installed in case I might think of a way to use it, after all, some time in the future.)

Aargh!

I enabled wysiwyg so I could test these options.  But now I can't seem to turn it off.

Theme > Member Options

and

Profile > Look and Layout

Is there another option that I forgot?

You're right, I don't understand.

""wysiwyg only"?"= no buttons or smileys

As for;
And I understand what the difference is between wysiwyg and not wysiwyg, as far as SMF terminology.

The terms are not specific to SMF. They are web dev terms.

I hope you get it figured out. Everything appears to be functioning as designed. It's just a question of personal preference.
