Hi, thanks for adding me to the forum. I use Inkscape for designing cutting files on my brother Scan n Cut. I have just updated to the latest version and now I am having trouble with my Beizer curve. I use to be able to click and then drag to match a curve on a letter (for example) then I would Path / Stroke to Path and then do a Path / Difference to break up my letters (example a, o, p etc.) to create a stencil.
Now nothing happens when I click and drag the beizer tool. When I let go I do get a curve but when I Path / Stroke to Path it messes up the curve? Is there a new way of doing this or do I have something turned off???

Welcome to the forum!
My best guess is that you may have mistakenly used a Shape option, on the control bar of the Pen/Bezier tool, when you drew the path. That automatically applies an LPE (live path effect) which can have unexpected results like you have described. (In this situation, the path effect can be used to create a variable width path. But there are many other different kinds of LPEs, which are not used with with this tool.)
If you'd like to share your SVG file with us, we can confirm. Or you can confirm it for yourself by selecting the path with the Selection tool (before you use Stroke to Path), and looking at the status bar. When the Selection tool is enabled, the status bar tells you what kind of object is selected.

If it's a path effect, you can remove it by Path menu > Remove path effects. If the status bar tells you something else, please tell us what it says, and we can tell you what to do. Or if you'd rather share the SVG file, that's fine too :)

Many thanks brynn. I have not paid much attention to that before but it told me it was a spiro line. I then googled that and found it was a toogle button on the toolbar (again which I have never looked at). So just selected regular bezier line and we are back to normal. Well least I learnt something today. Right back to work.
