Title: about this board
Post by: brynn on February 28, 2015, 02:35:23 PM
Hi Friends,
When I first set up this forum, there was no board like this.  Since I was planning to add the gallery soon, I didn't think it would be needed.  But it seems there are times when one wants to show their work, perhaps receive comments, or have a longer discussion, whether they upload it to their gallery or not.  (But especially if they don't want to put it in their gallery, for whatever reason.)  And truly, the Comment space for images in the gallery is somewhat smallish.

So, here we go!  A board to display completed Inkscape work.  :D

Happy Inkscaping!

You'd really love to have more activity here and I'm doing my best even if I'm shy to post Inksacpe stuff :)

Well, certainly you should not feel personally responsible for the activity level.  Just participate in whatever way or frequency you like.  And if you don't feel comfortable sharing your work, that's not a requirement either.  I remember when I first started learning Inkscape, and I didn't want to show my work either.  It was a long time before I posted a drawing I made.  So I  know what that's like and I understand.  (Perhaps surprisingly, I'm familiar with your health issues.  And plus, I have chronic health issues myself.  So I understand that part too.)

I have seen forums that force members to post a certain number of times per year or month or week, or else their membership will be cancelled.  But I think that's outrageous.  Those forums were not fun to participate in and were not particularly informative or helpful, because of the crappy messages that were being posted, just so the members can meet their quota.

Anyway, I hope this forum does become busier, eventually.  Realistically, it might not.  But as long as I'm still enjoying admin-ing, I'll keep it open.

Even with little activity, it serves to promote Inkscape!  So just have fun at your own pace  :D

Thank you, Brynn - but please remember that I have used the official Inkscape logo - the svg file available on inkscape.org so there was not so much to work with actually and I'm not sure if it works  with the size 50 x 50 pixel. Maybe I should leave the name Inkscape out :)

Still, I've seen some of your other work, in your gallery.

You know, there are different size Inkscape icons, packed with Inkscape.  Look in....well, I can't seem to find them now.  Oh, here it is inkscape/share/icons/application  6 different sizes of icons!

Thank you, Brynn :)
I think that I downloaded Inkscape in July last year but after playing with Illustrator some years ( never being able to do what I would like to be able to do - learning by watching tutorials after a short introduction to the program back in 1998 ) Inkscape was just there on my PC.
I decided to give it a chance in late September - left it after trials - came back and started to really focus on the tools following tutorials in different places.
I love it! But I am not an artist and I will never be one. It's just a great interest to have when you can't move around like you used to.

I'll take a look at smiley sizes :)
