Title: Before You Post Your 1st Message / Forum Rules
Post by: brynn on July 29, 2013, 05:36:13 AM
Hi Friends,

Welcome to Inkscape Community forum!

We don't have a lot of complicated and detailed rules here (except maybe about writing tutorials), and except for what you agreed to when you first registered here (reminder (https://forum.inkscapecommunity.com/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=33)).

The 1st and most important rule in this forum, is BE POLITE.  As long as we are polite, we don't have need for countless specific rules.  Anyone may state any opinion they may have, as their own opinion.  Bullying or direct personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Tip:  To help avoid misunderstandings, you may want to use the words "in my opinion" or the internet shorthand "imo" or "imho" (in my humble opinion").

The 2nd most important:

The first message you post must be about Inkscape or Inkscape tutorials (or otherwise related to this forum, or vector graphics).  (Or open source software would also be acceptable.)

The reason for this is that many spammers, or others with malicious intent, will post as many frivolous or innocuous messages as (they think) they need, to gain access to parts of the forum, from which they are otherwise restricted.  Examples:  "Hey, I like it here, man." or "Cool, dude!"  If your very first message is off topic, you might be thought to be a spammer.

Following are just some suggestions to make it easier A) for us to help you, or B) for you to help others.
Asking for Help

Offering Suggestions in Reply

Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy the forum  :D

The Inkscape board has recently finalized and approved the Inkscape Community Code of Conduct (https://inkscape.org/en/community/coc/) for the community as a whole.

Quoting from it:
Quote
This code of conduct applies to all spaces managed by the Inkscape project.

At this time, this website/forum (called "Inkscape Community") is Not a space managed by the project.  It's managed by me; I created it of my own initiative.  There is no official connection between the Inkscape Project and this website/forum....although there may be someday.

In any case, this website/forum ("Inkscape Community") will now subscribe to that CoC, and I ask all our members to behave in harmony with it.  Should there ever be any conflict in this forum, I will refer to the Code of Conduct for guidance in reaching a resolution.

Thanks  :)
