Title: Changing the color of pattern
Post by: benato on July 11, 2017, 11:03:36 AM
Hello once again!  :-D

This time I would like to ask You if there is a possibility to change the colors of pattern. I want to change it from red to brown as You can see at the attachments. I want to change the color of this first rectangle into a color of the second but I want to save the pattern from the first rectangle. I hope You understand it :D

I appreciate all Your help!

Greetings  :)

For example, on the photo below You can see brown and green card with the same pattern.

If this is indeed a real, vector based pattern (and not just a background image, which is perhaps tiled, or a filter, which I suspect - but without SVG file it's not possible to judge), then you can do:

Object -> Pattern -> Pattern to Object
Edit the pattern
Object -> Pattern -> Object to Pattern.

Or there might be some other options as well.

For example, layer blend modes, which are applied to the whole layer (so that everything in that layer is affected).  See Layers menu > Layers.  I've found them to be fairly limited, but they do change the color, and you wouldn't need to convert to object to change the color, and then convert back to pattern.

Or you can find the same blend functions as filters, which are applied only to what's selected.  Filters menu > Fill and Transparency > Blend.  Or for that matter, there are probably a few filters which would work for this.  I mean, instead of using patterns, use filters.  Although there may be some reason in your project why filters would not work.

Or there's an extension....or maybe a couple, which could change the color.  Extensions menu > Color.  I think HSL Adjust would work, or maybe Replace Color.  Or maybe others?
