Title: Multi gradient not working?

I was following this (   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is0KFAAbMSA  ) tutorial to learn multi gradients; but for some reason, it's just not working?

The buttons you are highlighting serve to insert nodes into paths.
However, you want to insert gradient stops into a gradient.
Use the gradient tool for this.

Click on the little arrows on the left, below the eraser icon, to show the rest of the tools. The gradient tool will be among them.
