Title: Change angle of scroke caps after using knot lpe
Post by: jrs808 on December 05, 2018, 01:19:25 PM
I'm using the Knot Path Effect to produce a woven appearance in a path as in the attached example. It seems to work well, but I would like the path caps where the path is broken to have the same angle as the segment where it breaks. I'm pretty new to Inkscape. Any suggestions?

This isn't possible currently. You can make a feature request for it at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape .

If you want to draw something smooth I'd suggest using overlapping and z-order trickery as a start.
Here (https://openclipart.org/detail/225087/knot-pattern-z5) is an example.

Welcome to the forum!

It's not possible using the path effect.  But you could convert it back to a regular path, and edit the ends manually.  Compared to using the path effect, it would be relatively time-consuming.  But it's entirely possible!

I would use guides and snapping to keep the proportions and angles correct.  I could make a little video to show, if you like.

Thanks for the constructive replies. I've submitted a feature request as Moini suggested. In the short term, I can make do with round caps to mimic the appearance I want.
