Re: My new logo design (C&C Welcome)

Very good points, and thank you for your suggestions. And your comment about the strokes being too thin is so true... I imported this logo into AutoCAD to use on my sheets for clients I work with and it's just simply too thin on the output plots. No matter how long I looked at it I just knew its not...

Re: Handling raster PNG exporting for highest quality

Wow, not bad. That actually works pretty darn good. I still may need some more tweaking but that definitely gets me closer to my overall goal. Thanks for the tips guys!!

Here's a new render from today. Link to full image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4989089/Images/cadtutor/2011-12-20/05.png This is of a pump room for a chilled water piping system. Showing are 12" chilled water hydronic piping on a three pump system, with a vertical expansion tank sitting on an equi...

Handling raster PNG exporting for highest quality

I may need to be using GIMP for this but I thought I'd ask anyways. What I'm doing is rendering a 3D model as a raster format from my CAD application. What I'm trying to achieve is to import this into Inkscape (which works fine) and put our company logo and some other graphical needs (text, sometime...

Re: Possibility of drawing and-or printing to scale?

Thanks for the replies and I was expecting that it wasn't possible. Brynn, 1st off that's my daughter's name so that means you have an awesome name, and 2nd that will definitely help if I need to do some things completely to scale, which sometimes I might. So, not a total loss, and I think I already...

Possibility of drawing and-or printing to scale?

Questions: (1) Does Inkscape have any ability that allows you to input a specific length for, say a bezier line, in a drawing? For instance, if I have a document that is 11"x8.5" to represent a Letter sized page, with the units set to Inches, could I initiate the bezier tool and type a dis...

Re: My new logo design (C&C Welcome)

Awesome, thanks for all the tips guys, I never gave the design process anywhere near the thoughts that y'all have so kindly given. Makes total sense across the board. When I get back on the logo I'll take all these comments into consideration and give another attempt. Thanks again for the C&C's!...

Re: Any AutoCAD users here?

DraftSight is awesome. Another good one is ProgeCAD Smart! but it leaves a watermark on anything you print or export as PDF. :(

In fact, my AutoCAD experience I feel has made my transition very easy with Inkscape.

Re: Any AutoCAD users here?

Ah, very nice!! I knew there would be some users in here that were a CAD background. I really like your detail too. And I have already used Inkscape to act as a bridge between AutoCAD as well, a few weeks ago I had a client who had a logo that I needed to get into a DWG format for their Titleblock. ...

Any AutoCAD users here?

Hello all, I'm a CAD designer who just got introduced with Inkscape. I really like the program (Inkscape that is.... and AutoCAD too for that matter). Anyways, just seeing if there are some fellow users aboard. I know that sometimes us CAD operators need a vector-based application such as Inkscape t...

My new logo design (C&C Welcome)

Hello everyone. I'm a CAD designer and I do a lot of side work, and because of this I have my own DBA. I have been using Inkscape now for about a month and I love it. Very powerful program I must say. Anyways, I would love to get some feedback as well as "show off" a bit, even though I wou...
