Re: How to erase or cut off part of my line
Thank you all! Sorry for the late update. Yes, I ended up drawing the line where I want the object cut/clipped. I then select the line and the object below it. I then select Path > Stroke to path. And lastly I select Path > Difference. And then line I drew disappears along with the section below it ...

Re: How to separate/detach two sections after stroke to path?
Thank you once again Theo! You are truly an Inkscape genius! I drew a line across the section I wanted divided. I then selected both the line and the red object and went Path > Stroke to Path. And then (with them both still selected), I went Path > Difference. And this eliminated the line leaving a ...

How to separate/detach two sections after stroke to path?
How can I separate or detach two sections/nodes. The red line is a linked offset of the black line. So to get the nodes to appear on it, I must select Offset > Stroke to path. Now I have the nodes on the red line, but would like to edit this one part by separating them here (so I can move the two se...

I dragged the erase tool down over the part of the line I want erased or cut, but when I let go of the mouse button, my whole line is erased. Re: How to join these two sections?
Thank you both for your suggestions! I went with Theoz's suggestion - to draw a circle/rectangle that covers both ends, and then highlight all > stroke to path > union. It works really well

How to join these two sections?
I am making a cookie cutter. I added a thick handle around it by creating a linked offset (selecting my design > Path > Linked offset). But part of it is separate and I need these to be connected. http://i66.tinypic.com/ngr2f5.jpg I highlight the whole red part, and go Stroke to path > Union. Then I...

Re: How to create an outline around the image
Thank you for replying. My image is in different groups right now. http://i63.tinypic.com/zl7jo4.jpg Should I bring it all together by selecting Object > Group? or should I bring it all together by selecting Path > Stroke to path, and then Union. I have done both steps before but am unsure the right...

How to create an outline around the image
I've traced an image:

Now I'd like to create an outline around the image that is a bit wider stroke. I've tried Path > Trace Bitmap but it doesn't do anything. How can I create an outline around this image?
