Re: Arranging Commands in Panels
druban and brynn, thank you for your replies. Although you both said it was possible to stack panels vertically, initially I had a good bit of trouble doing that myself. Since, as far as I can tell, neither the free or .pdf versions of Tavmjong Bah's Inkscape manual cover this subject at all, I hope...

Arranging Commands in Panels
I have tried unsuccessfully to combine two commands (Transform and Fill and Stroke) into the panel area to the right of the drawing window. I may be that what I'm trying to do is not possible at present (I'm using Inkscape 0.47 on Windows XP SP3). As you can see in the screen shot below, the Transfo...

Re: new stable release Inkscape version 0.48
I have been happily using Inkscape 0.47. I understand that there are still a few bugs in the new 0.48 version, so I'm not sure I want to upgrade yet. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a concise description of the changes and additions introduced in 0.48. If you know where I can find this in...

Re: Trim Path
~suv, thank you for pointing out that this is indeed on the wish list.
druban, it took me a half-hour of searching to figure out what your key combination did. However, it was worth it as I now understand and plan to use it for trimming operations until the real thing comes along.

Trim Path
I encountered an issue trying to trim one path with another. Although I found a work around, it seems that a direct trim command would be extremely useful. Since I'm relatively new to Inkscape, before I run off suggesting a new feature, I would like to discuss it here. Possibly there is an easier so...

Re: 3D Modeling
Starting with Blender 2.49, Inkscape created .svg can be imported directly into Blender. Although the importer was listed in earlier versions, it either worked poorly or not at all. With 2.49, you can import a path from Inkscape, convert it to a mesh, and spin or extrude it to create a 3D model. 'Ve...

Setting the Bitmap Editor
Surprisingly, popular bitmap editors such as PhotoShop and Paint.Net are not listed in the drop down list of bitmap editors in the Preferences list. A search on this forum of "bitmap editor" didn't include a fix for this. Is there a way to set the default bitmap editor for Inkscape to eith...

Re: Your first Inkscape drawing
Hi! I'm primarily a 3D modeler. I'm learning Inkscape to create sketches to guide the modeling. My first semi-decent sketch is of a short sword, as shown below. I think Inkscape is an excellent choice for this application. :) http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u28/VinceB_photo/Vb2010/NewSSword04B.png
