I JUST figured it out.... I went into System Preferences - International and went into the language section and where it says "Order for Sorted Lists" I changed it from French( I don't know why it was listed as French) to English. I then reopened Inkscape and voila - English! thanks Lordpyro

I dont know where to find the locale folder...when I download it onto my Mac, all I get is the DMG, then I open it up and there are two images, the actual app, and the applications folder. I am supposed to drag the app into the folder.

How do I download an english version onto Mac OSX or is there
software to translate a French version into English?
