I drag an image into inkscape.
I make a small square inside the image.
I want to create a rectangular hole in the image.
How?

Re: Subtracting two objects not working as intended :(
I appreciate the suggestion. I was playing with that idea, but I like the asymetrical-ness of the original (or whatever the term would be).Lazur URH wrote:I think it would look better if the square's grid would mach with the "e" shape, but that's just personal opinion.

Re: Subtracting two objects not working as intended :(
That's what I needed!
Convert stroke to path. I was able to figure out the rest after that.
But, curious how Lazur URH recreated the shapes.

Re: Any extension for getting an object's x y position?
I don't know any of such, but what if you flip all the drawing elements you designed vertically? That way the top left would turn to bottom left, which is the default origin of the objects in inkscape. For the offsetting part, I would draw a rectangle the size of the offset, and use the align and d...

Any extension for getting an object's x y position?
I'm trying to create a GUI for Native Instruments Kontakt sampler and it would be a big help if there was some way to get the TOP LEFT x y pixel position with the x y origin being the TOP LEFT of the page. Even better is if I could specify a pixel offset for the pixel readout. Is there any extension...

Re: Is there an easier way to do this repetitive task?
Thank you hulf2012 , you saved the day! All I needed was Edit --> Clone --> Create Tiled Clones. Clones can be moved by precise pixels by using even percentages and items with even pixels. I was quite clever in how I achieved my desired results. Here's a gif animation to explain it. And yes, the sli...

Is there an easier way to do this? http://www.elanhickler.com/_/tedious_animation.gif (Animation is of me trying to copy-paste the same object over and over, but each time I paste it, I need to move the edge of the object one pixel to the right, move a whole object one pixel to the right, then repea...

Any "center of object" extensions/functions in inkscape?
Is there an extension where you select an object, type in an x y and it moves the center of the object to that spot? Or maybe an extension that gives you the x y coordinate for the center? I currently get by with guides and snapping to center and reading the x y of that. Edit: Oh I just found a tip:...

Re: How do I properly make a circle with X inside?
http://i.imgur.com/83ZnI.png Here's the result. I will be using the "consoldiated, not actually connected paths" method. It creates the least path points so it should be most efficient resource-wise. (See first animation) Yeah.. I made animations too long, should have only filmed exactly ...

Re: How do I properly make a circle with X inside?
I did it yet a third way. I took two lines, turned stroke into path, took a circle, turned into path. I then selected the circle and one line and did "difference path." Selected the other line and did the same thing. http://i.imgur.com/zyaY3.gif (EDIT: Actually if you make the lines go cle...

Here's another attempt trying to make a circle in an X and then join the paths... http://i.imgur.com/zeMPy.gif?1?7028 Am I correct in assuming the "most correct" way to do this is how I did it in the first video? Or is there a more "correct" way where the path is continuous? See,...

Re: How do I properly make a circle with X inside?
huh? I don't want to group anything. Grouping is not required because it's 100% consolidated path. I want it to be filled 100%, and it is. I just want a circle and an X. That's what I did!Maestral wrote:Where`s the part about the fill, grouping.. etc?

How do I properly make a circle with X inside?
Ok. First I have a circle. ( ) Now I want to put an "X marks the spot" inside ( X ) Now I want to fill that with white color... Oh look, only 75% is filled... LAME! How do I properly draw a Circle X? I want it to be a path all the way, not a grouped object or something. ANSWER TO THIS QUES...

Re: Inkscape into Illustrator, why gradients on EVERYTHING?
I only used Inkscape to do this drawing. :) Inkscape 0.48.1 that is. Windows XP BTW, to comment on the clever tick marks: You need to create a circle around the tick marks and group it together so Inkscape knows where its center lies. I think I know why almost everything has a gradient. It's because...

Inkscape into Illustrator, why gradients on EVERYTHING?
No matter what format I export from Inkscape, when I import an Inkscape-created file into Adobe Illustrator, it opens up and everything (nearly everything) has a linear white-to-black gradient. All I want is black or white graphics. What am I to do? So annoying! Here's the Inkscape file in que...
